The student and I worked on several different subject. We worked on adding fractions in her mathematics book. Then, we worked on creating an outline and event flow chart for her adventure story while also focusing on using imagery and descriptive language. Then, we discussed text to self connections and worked on making them with a novel she was reading. Then, we worked on outlining her presentation.

I assisted the student with his math, spelling and vocabulary. His math was on multiplying whole numbers by decimals. He did well in his work overall, but needed extra practice on his vocabulary in preparation for his test.

The student brought mountain math-which is what his math teacher has them do throughout the week and the student said he was having trouble with it. The mt. math consisted of rounding, place values, standard and expanded form and decimals. Then we worked on his spelling words for the week and a simple subject and predicate worksheet.

The student is a particularly bright child. For this session we became acquainted with where he stands with the material, reviewed past lessons, drilled some words, and reviewed math material. I left him with flash cards to complete.

The student and I worked on her estimation and multiplication. She was having trouble getting through some of the estimating to the ten thousands, but we did a few more problems and she seemed to get a good grasp. We did some multiplication timed tests to test her speed. We also worked on 3 by 2 and 3 by 3 multiplication questions.

We spent our entire session talking about organizing school folders and papers differently. We discussed how note taking in class and reading those after school will help with retention of course topics.
