What can Los Angeles bar exam prep cover?
To become a lawyer in California, you must take both the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) and the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE). Additionally, as part of the California Bar Examination, you will also have a performance test and essay questions to answer. If you're preparing in Los Angeles to take exams required for licensure in a different state, your bar exam prep requirements will be different.
The MPRE can be taken as soon as you've completed one year of law school and must be taken before you can be licensed by the state bar. This exam is given three times a year and evaluates the tester's understanding of appropriate conduct for judges and lawyers. You will have approximately two hours to complete this multiple choice test.
The California Bar Examination is only given in February and July. The MBE is given on the second day in two parts. It covers thirteen subject areas, including civil procedure, constitutional law, criminal law and procedure, professional responsibility, remedies, trusts and wills, business associations, community property, contracts, evidence, real property, torts, and succession.
Regardless of which bar examination you are preparing for, or the specific test you need to review, professional bar exam prep resources can make the process easier. Let's look at two different prep options, prep classes and private instruction.
How can a Los Angeles bar exam prep class help me prepare?
A bar exam prep class gives you the routine of consciously setting aside time to prepare, the structure to do so effectively, the experienced guidance of a skilled teacher, and the support of a peer group with similar career goals. Combined, this is a powerful combination to help students remain motivated as they diligently work towards their testing goals.
Each of your sessions will be held in a secure online classroom. Working remotely allows you to save time and money. You have less of a time commitment since you can log in from anywhere you have a reliable internet connection and a digital device. The cost of a class tends to be less because the expense is dispersed amongst the group.
In your class, you will be able to see and hear your teacher as if they were in front of you. You will also easily be able to see any shared resources on the digital whiteboard. In addition to group instruction, your teacher may encourage study partnerships or groups during sessions to help students work through challenging concepts. You'll also be able to ask your teacher for assistance during class. If you need more detailed help, you can request additional time outside of your regularly scheduled sessions.
Your class can cover topics measured by the MPRE such as regulation of the legal profession, client confidentiality, different roles of the lawyer, the client-lawyer relationship, conflicts of interest, and any other concept included in the exam.
How is working with a Los Angeles bar exam tutor different from taking a course?
A Los Angeles bar exam prep course is a group learning experience, while private instruction offers you a personalized learning plan and one-on-one interaction with your teacher.
Your private instructor can review any of the topics on the MBE, including constitutional law, criminal law, evidence, torts, civil procedure, contracts, criminal procedure, real property, and other concepts measured by the MBE.
