I have a graduate degree in Applied Mathematics & Statistics with a scholarship, and a paid teaching assignment. So I started teaching when I started graduate school. In my very first lecture I realized that teaching was my calling. I have been teaching ever since. When I teach
I feel the best , I feel like I am in a magic place. Teaching is gratifying and nothing comes close . Both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees are in Mathematics & Statistics. I also worked in the industry and used a lot of math & statistics, and I bring that valuable experience to the classroom or tutoring.
I can tutor in algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, trigonometry, statistics and analytics and I love all these areas the same. I teach with passion because it is very rewarding to help stimulate the minds of my students, and it gives me great satisfaction when my students excel in life and do better than myself.
Webster defines teaching as follows:
"Teach, Instruct, Tutor, Train, Educate share the meaning of imparting information, understanding or skill. Teach is the broadest and most general of these terms and can refer to any practice that causes
others to develop skill or knowledge: To teach children to write, to teach marksmanship to soldiers etc. Educate refers to the imparting of a specific body of knowledge, especially one that equips a person to
practice a profession: to educate a person for the high school diploma; to educate someone for the law"
Webster defines teaching correctly. The teacher is the medium via which knowledge transfer takes place, with the student as the recipient of that knowledge.
A good teacher must be a good communicator, to be able to be effective. A good teacher is one that can approach all students, can make them believe in themselves, and encourages everyone to participate.
I like to believe that all people have the ability to learn. When the teacher loves his or her job then that teacher can bring the best out of every individual.
I love teaching. I have been teaching courses in Mathematics as a graduate student and afterwards as a Professor/teacher at a number of institutions from Middle School to Graduate School.
One of the first things I like to do when I start tutoring is to get to know the student, their background and develop a chemistry between the student and myself. It is very important to me , that the student feels comfortable with myself and my method of tutoring. I like to use examples to demonstrate all concepts because then thing will go a lot smoother. I take tutoring very seriously , and I understand
the impact that the words of the tutor /teacher can make. I stay positive all the time and encourage the student trying to bring the best in themselves.
When not teaching I like to volunteer in my community, and I am also interested in nutrition, fitness and I am studying to become and Wellness and Nutrition Coach. I believe in training both the mind and the body, as the ancient Greeks used to preach. I also like to read poetry, ad biographies of people who help shape our past ,present and future.
