I am deeply passionate about helping students because I believe that education is the foundation of personal growth and empowerment. Witnessing a student grasp a challenging concept or gain confidence in their abilities is incredibly rewarding. It is fulfilling to know that I can play a role in shaping their future and helping them achieve their goals.
My experience working with students spans several years, during which I have tutored individuals in math and English Language Arts (ELA). I have worked with students of various ages and skill levels, tailoring my approach to meet their unique needs. This hands-on experience has honed my ability to identify learning gaps, create personalized lesson plans, and build a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
I earned my education at Grambling State University and McNeese State University where I attained a degree in Mass Communication and General Studies., Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science. I also obtained a Master's plus 30 in Instructional Technology and a Certification in Specialized Tutoring Techniques and Mentor Leader to further enhance my skills and expertise.
I tutor a range of subjects, including Math and English Language Arts. While I enjoy all the subjects I teach, my favorite is English. I love exploring the nuances of language, analyzing literature, teaching phonics and helping students develop their writing skills. English offers endless opportunities for creativity and expression, and I enjoy guiding students as they discover their own voices and perspectives.
My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a growth mindset. I believe every student has the potential to excel when given the right tools, encouragement, and strategies. My tutoring style is interactive and adaptive; I use a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and creative exercises to keep students engaged. I also emphasize the importance of critical thinking and self-reflection, helping students develop skills that go beyond the classroom.
Outside of academia, I enjoy volunteering, traveling, shopping, and reading . These activities allow me to recharge and bring fresh perspectives to my teaching. I find that engaging in diverse interests helps me connect with students on a personal level, creating a more well-rounded and enjoyable learning experience.
