About Me

Saludos, estudiantes y familias. I'm Marti Barrera, a native Spanish speaker from Bogota, Colombia, with 12+ years of experience teaching Spanish to children, teens, university students, and professionals in fields such as healthcare, marketing, advertising, U.S. diplomacy, and ministry (pastors, seminarians, missionaries, and volunteers). I hold master's degrees in Marketing and in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. My thesis, "Su salud en espaol", focuses on communication between healthcare personnel and patients in U.S. hospitals, which helps me support learners who need practical medical Spanish. I am certified to teach Spanish (PreK12) in Maryland and have taught Honors, AP, and university-level Spanish, as well as prepared students for AAPPL, ILR, and AP exams. My teaching style is patient, structured, and culturally rich. I tailor each lesson to your goals and help you build confidence step by step. I look forward to supporting your Spanish!
