In a Montessori upbringing, I embraced hands-on learning and the freedom to grasp concepts at my own pace. Encouraged to discuss ideas and new concepts with peers before seeking help from teachers, I adopted a parallel teaching approach, treating learners more like friends rather than talking down to them. This approach is much more successful, as it encourages the learner to feel confident and accepted, rather than patronized. Millard West High School was my foundation, followed by an Associate's Degree in Interior Design from Metropolitan Community College. I am now on the path to a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
