As a public school teacher since 2003, I am a content specialist in life, physical, and the earth and space sciences. I have a Master of Arts Science Education (Secondary Biological Science) from Western Governors University. I am state certified in biology and physics for 7th through 12th grade instruction. Throughout my career as an educator I have had opportunities for extensive professional development and growth. These opportunities have kept me current in the evolution of modern day education. I have developed a relevant technology skill set for online and distance learning as well as advancing trends in the classroom. As I continue to be a classroom teacher, I am also a science content curriculum writer, a district endorsed tutor, a college and career readiness coach, a SAT prep tutor, and a district certified S.T.E.M instructor. I wear multiple hats in my career, but what is most important to me is teaching. Simply put I love to teach, but most importantly I love to learn. The human mind seeks knowledge and understanding as a function of its own self. I teach because I aspire to cultivate this very love for knowing and enthusiasm for knowledge in each and every student that I encounter. I am a passionate learner, an avid book reader and a connoisseur of European fashion. I am a cat lover and the proud momma of three orange tabbies. I love to watch history documentaries and I collect beautifully illustrated science and fashion textbooks when I am not teaching. I truly believe that everyone can learn and I still enjoy lighting that spark and passion for learning in each student that I am honored to teach.
