I currently work with 2:1 and 1:1 students aged 4-17 who have been diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety, learning disorders and behavior issues at various levels of functioning where I get to engage in positive behavior management strategies with students while also teaching them how to succeed. I actively encourage positive thinking toward each student, teammate, and the variety of challenges encountered daily while working with children and/or the frustrations common to growth and learning.
I am passionate about helping children and adults succeed in learning and development, with an emphasis on building self-confidence through encouragement, positive feedback, and affirmation of their personal strengths and abilities. Education and experienced in Memory Strategies, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Personality Psychology with a focus on motivation, talent and strengths, wellness and a personal teaching philosophy on the importance of an individual approach to learning and cognition.
Previous experience working with mentorship programs, development programs and succession planning has provided extensive knowledge of the stress encountered by high school and college students as well as the understanding needed to motivate young people through such challenges. While previously residing in Lawrence, KS, I was able to work closely alongside student athletes at the University of Kansas where I gained insight to anticipate the varying degrees of involvement needed to ensure the success of college students.
