I am an MSc candidate (with a full scholarship) at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), where I receive a full scholarship. Currently, I am in the final semester of my degree programme and working on my research/thesis. In addition, I am a graduate teaching assistant in the department of mathematics and statistics at MUN, where I facilitate class discussions and respond to student questions and concerns, conduct lab classes using statistical software such as R and SPSS, and evaluate assignments, labs, and quizzes.
I completed BSc. Special degree in Statistics at the University of Peradeniya. Apart from Statistic courses, I completed some courses in Computer Science to gain knowledge of programming languages (such as C, JAVA, and HTML) and Data Base Management Systems (MySQL). I encountered many fields of mathematics, such as calculus, group theory, numerical analysis, linear programming, graph theory and differential equations.
After completing my bachelor's degree, I decided to share my expertise in Statistics and mathematics with high school and undergraduate students. I worked as an assistant lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering at the open university of Sri Lanka. I possess more than 8 years of experience as a volunteer instructor, private tutor, graduate teaching assistant and assistant lecturer. I feel that teaching is my passion since I am so thrilled to observe students' interest in a subject grow. I can assure to widen the horizons of your knowledge by utilising the skills I developed and the experiences that I have gained. For me, "Mathematics is a universal language".
