I feel priviledged to have received some of the best art education in the world. In high-school I studied privately on a weekly basis with stone carvers from D.C.'s Washington National Cathedral and also with Cathedral blacksmiths. This gave me a technical "leg up" before even getting to college. I learned human anatomy, portrait sculpture, mold-making, stone carving. I also learned how to forge and temper stone chisels.
I began college at Shepherd University and took a year off to work as a studio assistant to the famed sculptor Frederick E. Hart. He is best known for the tympanum sculpture over the Washington National Cathedral entrance, his private interviews with the Pope, and his Millenium Cross which is in the Vatican collection. On his recommendation I attended the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and received my BFA in sculpture. Lyme is known for its highly classical and rigorous curriculum and its faculty members who also served as adjunct professors at Yale.
Upon graduation, I began working as a professional sculptor and completed bronzes and statues for numerous churches, cathedrals and private clients around the country. I've designed coins for the United States Treasury, worked on statues for the Miami Dolphins, the Red Sox, the Baltimore Orioles, the U.S. Capital building, among others. My art has received numerous international awards and has been featured in top art magazines.
I received an MFA in painting and drawing from the Laguna College of Art and Design. The training is highly competitive and rigorous.
I quickly became faculty at Laguna College, teaching sculpture and tutoring students privately. I also taught at California School of the Arts, one of the very best charter schools for the arts in the U.S. With a 6 year track record of excellence, I have taught middle school, high school, college, and private lessons to all age groups.
I have taught drawing, painting, 3-D design and sculpture, silver-smithing, blacksmithing, ceramics, relief sculpture, stone carving, basic jewelery making, and many courses in theory.
I love teaching. Because I have been fortunate enough to receive a world-class education work with many famous artists I long to give back by offering exceptional art training and tutoring
Drawing and sculpture (any 3-D design really) are my favorite subjects to teach. I love to inspire and to help foster an inquisitive discipline that fuels a students trajectory.
