My name is Stephen Wade and this semester I will be finishing my Master of Arts Degree in Systematic Theology from Trinity International University in Chicago. While there, I have worked primarily in philosophical theology and am fascinated by how it is philosophy and theology intersect as complimentary disciplines. I have a Double BA in Philosophy as well as Religious Studies from one of the best philosophy schools in the country and had the opportunity while there to study under some of the brightest philosophers currently working and publishing in America. Along with these disciplines, one of my greatest loves is for creative writing (specifically literary and philosophical fiction) and I will be applying for (MA) Creative Writing residencies for the 2021 school year. In addition to this, I will also be applying this summer for PhD programs throughout America and Europe in both Philosophy and Philosophy of Religion. Personal Statement/Teaching Philosophy My passion is for the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge, as well as the cultivation of wisdom which is the implementation of what I have come to know in such a way as to serve those around me with the love and respect each individual deserves. Whereas we may be able to understand in intricate detail certain aspects of the world (the prospect of which motivates me each day), how it is we interact with those around us is determined not by our intellectual capacities, but by who it is we are as we live in community with one another. I desire not merely coming alongside others to aid in the comprehension of the information they wish to acquire, but to foster an environment in which truth and wisdom are sought earnestly, that the good character of the person with which I am working will grow with and beyond their intellectual capabilities. Let us seek knowledge with humility, for the strength we possess is not in our ability to surpass others, to win at all costs and subjugate those we see as beneath us, but is instead in our ability to help those who have yet to know what it is we have been granted to perceive.
