I am a retired Special Agent with the FBI who is looking to help someone succeed at something they are having difficulty with. I believe my years of experience, which involved many periods of frustration and eventually success will be a asset to anyone who would hire me as a tutor. Law enforcement teaches youto be persistent, detail-oriented and patient. I hope to help students learn how to become successful using these tools.

I am passionate about helping students because I love to see the look on a student's face when the light goes on and they see that their hard work persistence has finally paid off.

While working my way through college I took on substitute teaching positions at high schools near my college. I also did some substituting at high and junior high level after I retired. During my career as with the FBI, I also taught law and law enforcement classes at the junior college level. Additionally, after my retirement I became a flight instructor and ground instructor for a local airline.

I attended high school in Boulder, Colorado and college at the University of Colorado in Boulder where I got my bachelor's degree in Zoology, with minor in math, physics and chemistry. While assigned to Chicago, I was able to obtain my Master's Degree in Criminal Justice and my PHD in Public Policy Analysis.

At this point, I tutor High School Physics, Math, Physics, Pre-Algebra and Science. I plan to add other subjects in the future. My favorite subject is algebra because it is logical and useful. I love doing word problems which most people have trouble with. I suppose I like word problems because it's like figuring out a puzzle.

I am a non-judgmental and patient person. I understand that everyone learns differently and that they may not pick up on a subject as easily as I did. Math and science always came easy to me. I always thought I would be an astronomer or a medical doctor. Alas, it was not to be. Life somehow never turns out as one expects. There's an old Greek saying, "Man plans and the Gods laugh!" I don't get caught up in teaching with a certain method. I just lay back and let it come to me. If I connect with a student we'll figure it out. Students will always communicate to you how they best learn.

Outside of academia I am presently licensed with the State of Arizona as a private investigator. I have a company that does indigent defense investigations and court research. Our family also owns a bar/restaurant in Marana, Arizona, so some of my time is devoted to making sure that is successful, although my son and wife actually run the place. I love reading science fiction and crime novels and enjoy listening to old time radio. I'm a political junkie. I enjoy working with my hands be it in a garden or building something.
