I am currently pursuing a Biology degree at Western Carolina University. Going to school in such a biologically diverse environment allows for a significant amount of opportunities to research the world around me and learn more. I have spent a significant amount of my time traveling and seeing new places. I have thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, and traveled to 13 national parks in the past two years. Experiencing so many beautiful places and immersing so much time in nature has allowed me to further develop my interest for the natural world, and commit to spending my life researching ways to preserve and protect that natural world.
My academic performance is very important to me to be able to achieve my goals. I have been given a lot of truly amazing opportunities throughout my lifetime thanks to my family and the education with which I have been provided. I know how frustrating it is to struggle in a particular subject in school, and I know how rewarding it is to put in the effort in order to understand the material. My diligence in my schoolwork allowed me to graduate high school with a 5.0 GPA, achieve a 1360 on my reading and math SAT, and maintain a 4.0 GPA in college.
I love being able to help others achieve their own goals, both academically and otherwise, by helping them in any areas I can. I know that I can effectively use my skills to help others succeed in areas they are struggling in.
