I feel like we are all different in nature and with different capabilities and learning styles, and this should not be a reason for a student to be considered as bad in a subject. With the right amount of time and effort, and understanding the way a student learns best, I can help my students improve their grades and mentality towards a difficult subject for them.
I first discovered tutoring when I was still in school and my little sister and her friends were struggling in math. I remember clearly how my mother bought me a board and some erasable markers and I helped them understand the concepts their new teacher was not making clear for them. Since then, I have tutored in Math as I have patience and can be creative on explaining math concepts with tangible real-world examples, and also Spanish because I am 100% fluent. I have helped school students between the ages of 10-15 improve their math skills, especially in Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry, and many high school juniors and seniors as well. As for Spanish, I have tutored Finnish students while I did my study abroad program in Turku, Finland and some exchange students in Peru. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering this year and I am currently enrolled in a 5-course online specialization on Data Warehousing for Business Intelligence by the University of Colorado. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math at middle and high school levels, the Quantitative section of the GMAT, and all levels of Spanish.
I believe education is absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to always share this with all my students so they can see the value or our time.
In my free time I enjoy going for a walk, swimming, reading a good book from which I can learn something valuable and practicing different styles of lettering. I also love to travel and pizza is my favorite.
