I have always had a passion and a knack for math. I love sharing this passion with students and peers of all ages. I enjoy helping students learn how to approach even the most difficult problems and break down the process into simple steps. There are often multiple approaches to a single problem and different ways of shedding light on a concept.
Every student has a slightly different learning style and I try to tailor my methods to best suit their understanding. Some people like lots of examples worked out for them, others like more visual representations of a problem. Some appreciate knowing the theory behind what is happening and others want to know the shortcuts.
No matter what your past exposure has been with math I believe that we can make it a more positive experience. An important part of tutoring is building the confidence of a student in their own abilities. I don’t simply want to solve problems for students but to teach them to be critical thinkers
My interest in math eventually led me to go to school for engineering. Engineering is basically the application of mathematics and science to real world situations. I am currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Applied Mathematics from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
