I am a recent graduate from North Carolina State University, majoring in Animal Science and a minoring in Psychology. I am working to eventually attend veterinary school. I was a member of the Honors program, a member of the Society of Research and Inquiry, the Sustainability Committee, and the Society of Public Scholarship. I have been working since the age of thirteen and most of my recent jobs have applied to the field of animal science, therefore, the sciences are my specialty. My teaching style is hands-on, utilizing me as a demonstrator or model, and allowing the student to apply that knowledge on their own. I appreciate questions from the student, curiosity, and student participation. I utilize real world examples to exhibit the significance of the topic and encourage interest and passion in the acquisition of knowledge.
My first tutoring experience came from the Learnworks program that focused on helping elementary school students that were referred to the community center for behavioral problems, learning disorders, and trouble with English. I spent over ten hours a week for two years in high school tutoring and leading the Cooking and Drama clubs. I worked with the same third and fourth grade students each day, and helped bring their grades up. In college, I have privately tutored college students in both English and Biology courses and helped many friends with their academics. I also worked for a tutoring company while at North Carolina State University and tutored math.
The courses I tutor include: Chemistry, Animal Science courses, English courses, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Economics, Public Speaking, SAT and ACT preparation, and Psychology courses. I have created my own curriculum multiple times for math courses such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. I work with students on study skills and assist certain students by providing homework help. Overall, I am a well-rounded intellectual with social skills and a passion for helping students.
