I enjoy being a life-long learner building mentoring relationships with students who need and want guidance in learning how to learn. Helping them gain confidence in their own abilities and set "next step" goals for themselves is very satisfying. I ask students to think of me as their coach so I can cheer them on as they improve their learning performance.
My hobbies are doing art projects in paint, mosaics, paper collages; creating "less is more" poetry like acrostics and haiku; and doing creative fiction writing challenges. Other interests are reading memoirs and some fiction writers like Alice Walker, Isabel Allende, Garrison Keillor, and Elizabeth Gilbert and others.
I also participate in Powerstories Theatre activities that include raising scholarship funds for middle school girls learning to tell their personal stories to younger girls
