I'm a successful educator with 24 years of experience. I have a Bachelor's in Education and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. I'm a successful English Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies teacher. I successfully tutor students who are struggling readers and writers. My expertise is in reading comprehension skills (10 yrs.elementary, 14 yrs. secondary) for grade spans K-12. Additionally, I successfully tutor students in crafting a compelling college essay. I differentiate the lessons for each student based upon their learning needs and style. I have successfully taught students with learning disabilities and ADHD. As a successful tutor, my instructional focus is helping students obtain content mastery and improved grades. As a result, my students have improved grades and increased state assessment scores. I look forward to becoming your child's tutor and helping them to achieve their academic goals.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

When a student has difficulty learning a new skill or concept, this can denote that there is a lack of prerequisite knowledge or that the concept was not modeled effectively enough for the student to understand. In either case, as the teacher, I would provide the prerequisite knowledge, model the expected outcomes and guide the student through practice until mastery is ascertained.
