What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy lies on the following two basic pillars: 1) Making someone love Mathematics in particular, and loving sciences in general, and making someone eager to learn. 2) Motivating students to participate actively in learning and assisting them in doing so. I don't believe in traditionally teaching saying everything to the student and solving every question to them to make them simply happy; this makes them dependent.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Introducing myself try to make clearly visible who I am, and inviting my student/s to clearly present themselves to me, once that confidence comes. I try to understand their level of math.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
That is my ultimate goal right from the first day. I will motivate and try to convince students to clearly understand what the problem they are reading about is and invite them again and again by assisting with some explanation so that they try it. Doing it together, and then solely letting them try...repeating this action would help.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Try to understand which area or which specific concept she/he has a problem with or if it is a general learning phobia. A close interaction with parents and/or regular teachers would help me to know more about the student.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Though I am not master in teaching this, I will try to research about and communicate with her/his English teacher to know more about and assist student.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Having a full confidence of me from the student. Once a student knows that I am there with him to make a difference and once I make the time valuable in her/his side, things are easy.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I have to try all possible means to boost the confidence by using my technique of assisting (for which I am proud of).
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Simple oral questions, some quizzes, some homework, and some assignments, on but with a close follow up how she/he did.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
As I mentioned earlier, I have to develop various measurement techniques. From each and every part from what he expects to know, I would prepare quizzes, tests, exams, and based on the results, I will review and redo assistance on the parts where she/he hadn't scored well.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
Student textbook and supporting materials from various sources, including web browser and my experience and expertise.
