Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

To make learning a fun, interesting, and exciting experience. I believe that learning is the outcome of enthusiasm.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know who the student is and allow them to get to know me.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By constantly reinforcing my confidence in them. After a while, they'll begin to have that confidence in themselves.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would use incentives.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would use repetition until they get it and are able to teach it.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Relating what they've read to something they are more familiar with.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Telling jokes. Incorporating laughter and joy into the subject matter.
