I studied at the UNAM it is one of the best universities in Mexico. I am a certified dentist in Mexico and recently moved to the United States. I am working on entering school at IUPUI to study a specialty in Pediatric Dentistry. I worked at a pre-school teaching Spanish to 4 and 5 year olds and found that I had a real passion for helping students to learn my native language. I also have experience teaching teenagers and adults and look forward to working with you. I understand how difficult it can be to learn a new language as I have experienced it as I have learned English. Because of my own experience I know how to help my students with the unique difficulties that each student may face. I also believe that learning should be fun and try to find new and exciting ways to make learning Spanish easier and less of a challenge.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that anyone can learn with the right motivation, and it's just a matter of finding how to make it fun and relevant to the student

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know each other well so we can figure out the best way to work together and in what ways they learn the best. It is also a good time to evaluate their current level.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By making it fun and interesting for them; that way they take ownership of their learning.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By setting incremental goals so a student can see their progress as they reach those goals, and in that way, stay motivated.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Try and figure out why they are having difficulty in understanding the concept; that way we can find another way to approach the topic that will help the student to learn the material.
