What is your teaching philosophy?
The best way to tackle a student's weaknesses is by playing to their strengths. This makes the process towards learning new material more efficient and enjoyable.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
A first session will typically involve inquiring which areas a student would like to focus on. I would then execute a short term plan towards achieving the student's goals. At the end, I would formulate a long term plan tailored to assisting the student achieve their goals.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
The most beneficial thing a student can gain is an understanding of how to teach themselves any new topic. As a tutor, I like to focus on teaching how to approach thinking about complex topics in addition to providing direct assistance in a student's learning.
