Math is one of my favorite things! It's truly amazing that humans made this stuff up and that it's endlessly useful for learning more about the universe!
This will be my fifth year of teaching high-school level math, and I have been tutoring math since I was in high school myself. After getting my undergraduate degree in mathematics, I obtained a masters degree in math. In my masters degree program, I got to do research that used math to answer questions about immunology (specifically the flu virus)! Afterward, I became a certified secondary math teacher through getting a masters in education.
If I end up being your math tutor, I will work with you in whatever way you need. Whether you simply need guidance and assurance while working on your homework or you have significant difficulties in math that have been building up for years, we'll figure out what you need to succeed. I am a firm believer in providing my clients with the tools they need to succeed without me, so I do my best to teach them not just specific algorithms for a given topic, but the overarching skills they will need in order to do their best in any math class.
Most importantly, I know that math can be interesting and wonderful and definitely not terrifying. So we will work together to make sure you learn that, too. :)
