I recently graduated from Wellesley College with a BA in Biological Sciences. Currently, I am taking a year off before pursuing a Master’s degree in order to obtain experience working in a lab. Microbiology has been my strongest and most favorite subject from my time at Wellesley. Math holds a special place in my heart from my time in high school as well as its place in science. I have a few years of experience tutoring in mostly informal settings in a range of both Math and Science subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, Microbiology, and Freshwater Ecology. More formally, I have three years of experience tutoring the SAT Reasoning sections from my time in the Academic Success Project. In addition, I participated in a teaching practicum where I aided the third grade teacher in reading and writing components of the curriculum.

My passion is showing students the beauty and fun in Biology and Math that may not come across through a classroom setting. In a one-to-one tutoring session, it is a much more personal and interactive experience. In this setting, it is all about the student and supplying their specific needs. Few things are as amazing as seeing the student finally grasp a concept they’ve struggled to understand. It is my goal to have the student understand the material well enough that they can explain it back to me in their own words.

Outside of tutoring, I spend my time drawing and illustrating a variety of subjects, including plants from the Wellesley greenhouses and a dragon facing down a griffon. Art in all shapes and form is inspiring to me. I find it in museums, nature, and even under my microscope. Besides my love for art, I spend a good deal of time reading fiction and scientific journals. For more activity, badminton and canoeing are a good source of fun.
