I received my bachelors in mathematics and economics at Arizona State University in the year 2014. While there, I worked as a tutor at the ASU Student Success Center for approximately 2 years. My educational background and experience as a tutor has made me proficient in tutoring subjects such as calculus, statistics, and economics. Any subject in mathematics is a joy to tutor since, even if I feel uncomfortable with a problem initially, they seem clear enough where, with a little bit of elbow grease, an answer can be constructed with a limited amount of knowledge. My philosophy is that every individual has a certain way, or collection of ways, of learning, it is just a matter of finding their strategy. Hence, I never feel at ease by simply providing a student with an answer, but in collaborating with them until we can find it. It is not the job of the tutor to, in some sense of the word, show off their knowledge of a field.
Outside of academia, I play the bagpipes (as you have probably noticed from my picture). Whenever I feel stressed or reach the nadir of my mood, playing the bagpipes will act as a fantastic remedy.
