What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session with a student, I like to get to know them, their goals, and their motivation to learn German.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I balance humor with rigidity, and my students always enjoy our sessions.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I believe most extraordinarily in the power of positive reinforcement and encouragement, and nothing bolsters faltering students better than consistent improvement.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I recognize that every student has different strengths and weaknesses, and everyone needs an individualized approach.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I believe in igniting in students an excitement for learning, as well as the necessary skills they need to improve on paper and tests.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I believe most extraordinarily in the power of positive reinforcement and encouragement, and nothing bolsters faltering students better than consistent improvement.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
It depends on the student, but I like to use children's books. They have a story line and are very helpful in terms of vocabulary.
