I am not teaching or grading papers, I can usually be found playing some brass instrument or another, umpiring baseball, trying out a new recipe in the kitchen, or spending far too much time on Netflix.

I am a college instructor with ten years experience in the classroom as a teacher and tutor. Originally from South Carolina, I went to school in Pennsylvania and currently live in Alabama. I believe that students learn best through practice and approaching learning through a relaxed lens, thinking about the larger, structural questions behind their concerns in order to gain a broader and more inclusive understanding of the subject matter. My tutoring philosophy stems from the belief that students and tutors are peers, and that collaboration is the best means for students to learn, not just reciting or memorizing what I might suggest. Working together, and making sure students take ownership and pride in their work, leads to a stronger educational foundation, both in our tutoring sessions and the student's future.

I am always excited to help others and would like to teach students to improve with their academic skills, help with home work, instant assistance and ace the college board tests, SAT I and SAT subject and AP Tests. I spent much time examining during my high school and would like to share my knowledge, experience, test tips, strategies and test time management skills.

I am currently an undergrad at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Mathematics and Political Science. I have been tutoring students since high school, mostly in science and math. I've found that STEM courses are intimidating to many students, and I hope to get rid of that fear and promote an appreciation for numbers and the sciences. In my tutoring, I focus on helping students understand the concepts beneath the problems, so as to facilitate learning rather than memorization. I strongly believe that every student is capable of reaching a strong level of understanding in any subject, given the correct tools, a teacher who can offer what they need, and some hard work. I am currently a senior at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and I am double majoring in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development and French. I am pre-med, so I do hope to go to medical school next year and am currently in the process of applying. I graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 2012, and there I was a member of the National Honors Society which was my first experience with tutoring. I am currently a volunteer at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital, and I help patients and siblings with homework and reading there, as well. Hobbies: swimming, writing, art, books, music, baking, reading, cooking

I am currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I am also a graduate of the high school International Baccalaureate Program. I have informal experience tutoring high school physics, but am most passionate about tutoring students for the ACT standardized test, having had extensive experience preparing for standardized tests throughout high school. I am eager to aid students in boosting their scores before their upcoming college applications, an important milestone in many students' lives. In my free time, I also enjoy playing tennis.

I am a recent college graduate currently pursuing a career in publishing in New York City. My interest in tutoring and the publishing industry stem from the same source: I want to help instill in others the same love of learning I have felt throughout my life. Whether it's getting lost in a good book or feeling the thrill of excitement at finally solving a difficult math problem, I feel that learning should be fun and viewed as a challenge, not a chore. Throughout my academic career, I have been a well-rounded student, excelling in math as well as language and literature. I am a notoriously good test-taker, a skill developed from solid study habits that I hope to pass on to future students.
