I recently graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Mathematics. From an early age I always loved math and, unlike many of my classmates, took a great pleasure in being introduced to new topics.

I like to describe math as a sort of puzzle. Each piece builds off of something else, creating a more complete picture. It's therefore always important to have a solid grasp of the basics - to understand the previous steps - before learning each new topic. My approach to tutoring thus focuses less on memorizing formulas and more on understanding why these work and how you can arrive at them yourself.

I have always enjoyed being able to help other people and my somewhat unique outlook on mathematics, coupled with my experienced mathematics background, have enabled me to assist many different people in the past. I have experience in teaching people of different ages and different needs, and I understand how to shift my approach to best reach the student. I served as an instructor at a Judo dojo that I grew up in beginning when I was 14, working with elementary school children. I additionally assisted in a 10th grade Algebra class in my sophomore year of high school, then again in a Calculus class offered at UC Berkeley following my senior year of high school. Furthermore, due to my mathematical background, I've often found myself questioned by friends, family, students, and even parents of students about different topics varying from elementary school material to Multivariable Calculus and beyond.

I love mathematics and I hope to spark a similar joy in those that I teach.
