I graduated from Ladue High School in 2005, and Northwestern University in 2009 with a BA in Social Policy. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Teaching for Secondary Mathematics. In addition to Varsity Tutors, I also work at Glenridge Elementary School. During the summers, I am the program director at the JCC Day Camps. I love the variety of working with all ages!
I have been tutoring for 9 years. I started tutoring Math in high school with Mu Alpha Theta, the Math Honor Society. During college, I tutored at Evanston Township High School with the AVID program for middle-tiered students. In addition to academic subjects, I assisted with study skills, college applications, and scholarship essays. I helped several students, first in their families to attend college, receive significant scholarships. After graduation Northwestern, I lived in Israel for 6 months. I worked at a boarding school where I taught English, planned programs and farmed chickens.
While I did not major in Math, I excelled in Math during high school, and have had years of experience tutoring at the high school level. Relatable and not a dull Math nerd, I have several ways of explaining concepts and remembering procedures, which help students who did not grasp the topic in class. Even for those who dislike math, we will keep working until we find a way so you feel comfortable.
I also tutor ACT. As a high school student, my score increased by 6 points, so I am eager to help others do the same. I see the test as a game, and you just need to learn the rules, making it possible for everyone to improve.
In my free-time, I love being active. I play in several adult sports leagues including softball, volleyball, kickball, broomball and bowling. I like planning activities and programs, whether for my friends, students or campers.
I can't wait to start working with you!
