Someone once told me that "educating little humans is a mind-boggling process and one that will also enrich your life!" It is the latter that I find to be more accurate and the reason why I love to teach. I strive to create a classroom environment where students are encouraged to be curious and creative, to appreciate each other's differences, and to instill a love of learning. I am honored to be a part of our students' educational journeys.I was born on a military installation in Heidelberg, Germany. My mother was in the Army, and my father was an engineer. For most of my childhood, I trailed behind my mother and father as they embarked on numerous missions in over 30 countries, across five different continents. I finally returned home upon starting my senior year of high school. Upon graduating from high school, I attended the University of Oklahoma where I later graduated with a B.A in Sociology. After college, I spontaneously decided to teach English in Taiwan. During my time in Taiwan, I learned a lot about Taiwanese culture and language. It was here that I relieved how much I enjoyed teaching and decided that I had to go back to school. In the Summer of 2016, I went back to school to pursue my Master's degree in International Education.I am now in my 4th year of teaching overseas, and I could not be happier. By growing up around so many different cultures and customs as a child, it has helped me to find common ground with almost anyone that I come across. Most importantly, it has helped me to connect with my multicultural students and their families. In my previous position as a 1st-gradeteacher at the American International School in Conakry, I made it clear to both the students and parents that I wanted to set a positive and inspirational learning environment. During activities, I encourage students to speak in their native language to convey thoughts and feelings about specific pieces of literature or to deconstruct a difficult math problem. By speaking both their local language and English, they were able to communicate and collaborate more effectively and thus were more likely to take risks and learn from them. In my current position as a 3rd grade teacher in Saudi Arabia, It is not uncommon for someone to walk into my classroom and see several students nestled in the reading corner, reading a "Just right" book, or to see students using Seesaw to demonstrate their knowledge of various text structures in a nonfiction book. This free and relaxing environment is what I thrived in as an international student and is what I try my best to replicate for the students.

The arts and artists are an integral part of the solution to the challenges we face in all parts of our society.”I am also interested in international arts policy, having visited over 25 countries while living and working abroad for more than four years. I am passionate about exploring the ways that the arts can unite disparate cultures and communities.I previously served with AmeriCorps*National Civilian Community Corps: Southwest Region, focusing on disaster relief and community development, and later spent three years working internationally with underserved students.

The NFL and professional rodeo have nothing on being a teacher. I thought I had achieved my "dream jobs" when I got to work in professional football and rodeo, but changing courses in my mid-twenties taught me that teaching was my real "dream job". I have been a special education teacher for approximately twenty years. Most of my time has been spent in middle school, but I have also worked in elementary school. Most of my work has been in public education but I did work in a couple of international schools in Singapore and South Korea. I am currently a teacher of students who are blind or visually impaired. I love being with my students. Learning CAN be fun (I love to laugh), and when possible tie it to student's experiences. They are the owners of their educations!

I have spent my life teaching math, both as a classroom teacher and as a tutor, and I love it! My goal is always to make mathematics simple and understandable. I teach by asking questions, both to check for understanding and to allow the student to figure out the concept on his/her own. While my favorite topics are Statistics and Trigonometry, I love teaching all of Algebra too. I have taught both AP Statistics as well as IB SL. Nothing compares to seeing the look of understanding a math concept on a student's face! In addition, I have taught courses in, and tutored, SAT Prep for 35 years. While I do tutor both the math and Reading & Writing sections, I do believe that students can be helped more in the math section. Therefore, I choose to work with students who want to improve their math score more, but may still want some help with the Reading and Writing. Yes, the SAT has changed throughout the years but I have kept up with it and have seen more than 100 SAT tests. I am an expert in SAT test construction and offer many problem-solving strategies for success on the SAT test.

Hello! Welcome and I'm so excited that you are interested in tutoring!I received my BA from Mary Washington College and my Masters' of Education from George Mason University, both in Virginia. I have been teaching for 12 years, and have been tutoring for 6. I have an Online Teaching Certification from GMU and I worked for their Online Academy for 3 years tutoring students online in a variety of subjects (English, History, Latin, Science, etc.) I have also worked for Educational Connections in Virginia and for TutorFind.I specialize in Educational Coaching: helping students learn how to learn. From note taking to study skills to test taking, I can help a student become more successful in the classroom and help them prepare to be independent learners in college. This is my favorite thing to teach because the skills a student learns can be applied to any and every subject for the rest of their life!In brick-and-mortar schools I have taught English and Theatre. I am currently the Drama Director for a local high school and I am very active in my town's community theatre. I sing, play piano and violin, act, paint, and do ceramics. I love to cook and do party catering for my family and friends.I'm a happy and outgoing person who loves to laugh. I can find enjoyment in nearly any endeavor: I love to learn and I love to share my love of learning with others. I am fascinated by history and science, even though my personal strengths lie in English and the arts. One subject I do not excel in is math. But I am working to improve myself in that area.My personal philosophy is that learning is lifelong, and can be so much fun if you find the right methods! :) I believe in ownership of education: the student shouldn't have learning happen to them; it should happen by them. Ownership means choice and decisions, as well as empowerment. My goal is to help my students discover enjoyment and excitement in learning, and to show them how to feel confident and in control of their education so that they can continue on their own for years to come.

My decision to obtain both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Spanish stems from my passion for the Spanish language and culture. Quintus Ennius, a writer during the period of the Roman Republic and often considered the father of Roman poetry, famously quoted “He who has two languages has two souls”. I grew up in a Texas-Mexico border town and learned the Spanish language along with English. When people ask me what my first language is, I always say “I have two first languages, Spanish and English!”, and that couldn’t be truer. Not only has being completely fluent in Spanish opened up opportunities for me, it has also exposed me to so many different and wonderful Spanish speaking cultures. And although I have not visited every Spanish speaking country, I feel as if I have traveled the world through reading Spanish literature.I teach with a contagious smile, a humorous disposition and an open personality which I believe puts students at ease, and when they are more comfortable, they are more apt and open to learn the language. Another key element I use in teaching Spanish as a foreign language is to introduce the language through the use of Latin and Hispanic cultural elements such as their customs, beliefs, traditions and the Arts. This keeps the students motivated and helps them readily grasp the language. Growing up in a border town and speaking Spanish for as long as I can remember, my Spanish dialect is native sounding. I think it highly benefits the student to hear and learn Spanish words in a native dialect. I also believe technology is an important part of learning Spanish and I utilize it whenever possible. Through the use of the worldwide web, a student can visit any country and even communicate with a Spanish native in a live Spanish chat room! Through the incredible world of learning Spanish, one gains an appreciation for another language and culture. My enthusiastic, cultural approach to teaching Spanish helps students acquire language skills in a way that keeps them motivated, interested and determined to continue learning the language. Not only has Spanish increased my ability to communicate and broadened my capabilities, my awareness of other cultures has made me a well-rounded individual who is capable of comfortably assimilating to almost any situation. Like Quintus Ennius, I also feel as if I have been blessed with having two souls through my bilingualism.

I have experience in a wide range of subjects and age groups. I've done everything from editing papers for friends to assisting English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching. My focus and greatest personal interest is in Social Studies. Whether it's history, government, or economics, I'm fascinated by how societies function, and I love to help people explore these topics. I believe the most important part of tutoring is helping a student overcome their fear of being wrong. Oftentimes the intense social pressures of the classroom make it difficult to speak up for fear of being wrong, but even the greatest minds among us don't solve every question immediately. My strength is in helping students work through inevitable and often healthy mistakes without becoming discouraged. My intention is to become a full time teacher in the future. In my free time, I'm an avid basketball fan and player, and I can often be found enjoying a good book.

I am an intellectually curious, patient, and highly adaptive tutor who believes that the most effective learning happens when students understand how they think, not just what they get right or wrong. My approach centers on meeting students where they areacademically, cognitively, and personallyand helping them develop confidence, independence, and analytical clarity. I place strong emphasis on identifying each student's learning style and using that awareness to tailor explanations, examples, and practice. Rather than simply correcting mistakes, I encourage students to analyze why an answer didn't work and to recognize what they did correctly in the process. This reflective approach helps students build durable skills, not just short-term performance improvements. In English and humanities subjects, I guide students to engage deeply with texts by focusing on what the author actually providesobjects, events, characters, language choices, and implicationsrather than relying on vague impressions or memorized interpretations. I help students learn how to support their ideas with evidence, think critically about meaning, and articulate their insights clearly and confidently. I am calm, supportive, and structured in my teaching style, while also encouraging curiosity and independent thought. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically, but to help them become more self-aware learners who trust their reasoning, take intellectual risks, and feel capable of growth.

I have been tutoring Math, Physics, and SAT (Math and English) for over 10 years now since senior year of high school. My approach is pretty simple. Find a need and fill it. I'd like to see where the student is having a knowledge gap. Some times it takes a different approach to explain a concept. Math and physics have a very consistent framework when solving a problem and when you follow that framework, you can solve 99% of problems! The new Digital SAT is significantly different than the previous version. I have a study plan for both sections that can be tailored to each student. Look forward to hearing from you! Moon

"Teachers change the world one child at a time," is a quote found on a plaque my father first gave me when I entered the teaching profession-a quote that still inspires me today. Originally from Buffalo, New York I have always dreamed of being an educator. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education, with a concentration in mathematics and computer science from SUNY Geneseo and I obtained my Master's in Literacy at George Mason University. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, running crafting, baking and trying to learn something new every day, whether it is by taking a gift wrapping class, or a cooking class.I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time and having a vested interest in your child's education. It is my goal to actively listen to your concerns and desires for your child's education while maintaining communication with your child's educators about his or her current performance and the teachers vision for the coming months. Through this ongoing dialogue, your child will have the opportunity to not only grow intellectually, but socially.Throughout my three year study of literacy at George Mason, I was introduced to, and applied, a variety of strategies to enhance instruction. Building background knowledge, posing open-ended questions and instilling a sense of excitement and fun are the corner stones to success. It is my intent to tailor lessons that foster a deep sense of excitement and active participation that encourages intellectual and social growth in each student. While language arts has always interested me, I have a breadth and depth of knowledge in all academic areas and each lesson will be tailored to the student's individual needs. I plan my lesson by using information gathered from a variety of sources, including current classroom performance indicators, learning style inventory, and assessment results. I have had the opportunity to apply these techniques during my eight years of experience in the public education system and three years of experience in private tutoring. During this time, I have been able to educate and excite students in grades Pre K through 5.I look forward to embarking on this educational journey with both you, and your child-a journey where he or she will begin to understand that learning is meaningful, connected to everyday life, and most of all, fun!

1+ Years Tutoring

I am a dedicated tutor with a strong passion for helping students build confidence and master challenging subjects. I completed my high school education in France, completed one year of medicine in Senegal, before moving to the United States to pursue a biology major on the pre-med track. With a deep understanding of mathematics, biology, and French, I enjoy breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more digestible ideas. My experience includes tutoring students of various backgrounds, both in person and online, where I focus on creating an engaging and supportive learning environment. I believe that every student has the potential to excel with the right guidance and encouragement. My tutoring style is patient, interactive, and tailored to each student's learning style, ensuring they not only grasp the material but also develop critical thinking skills they can apply beyond the classroom.
