I am a passionate learner who would love to help students with areas of school that they find challenging. I am in my final semester of a civil engineering degree at the University of Pittsburgh. From the time I was in high school, I took a strong interest in STEM courses. I loved my chemistry, physics, and math courses. I always asked questions and loved to understand "why" things worked, which helped me to deeply understand and remember concepts. As a civil engineering student, I am familiar with many STEM subjects, but my areas of greatest expertise are chemistry, physics, algebra, and geometry. I have taken variations of chemistry 3 times and physics 3 times in the course of my education, so I know these concepts very concretely. Likewise, algebra and geometry make up the building blocks of a civil engineering degree, so these are also topics with which I am very familiar. If you are struggling in courses like AP chem, AP physics, high school chem or physics, or even college level chemistry or physics, I may be a good fit for you! The same goes for algebra and geometry. I have also taken all of the first and second year courses of engineering and have a focus in geotechnical and water resources engineering, so I can also offer some assistance in these areas as well. I have a particularly good base in fluid mechanics, as that was a course I personally struggled in. As a note, I have only taken most of these engineering classes once, so I am not as fresh in them, but it is worth asking if these are areas of difficulty for you!

As far as my teaching style, I love to explain why things work and what makes ideas relevant with the hopes that it will help the ideas "stick". I've always found that it is easier to remember when I have a little understanding to back up what I know. Further, I am a good listener. I am encouraging, positive, and like to make sure that the people I am interacting with are feeling ok and aren't getting lost. I am also very open to feedback and like to create an environment where people feel comfortable to ask questions or push back if something is not making sense. If my style and areas of expertise sound like a good fit for you, I would love to try working with you!
