Education has always been my passion, and I believe that learning should be an engaging and empowering experience. As a tutor, my goal is to help students build confidence in their abilities, develop critical thinking skills, and foster a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. I understand that every student has unique strengths and challenges, and I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where they can thrive.

I have extensive experience working with students of various ages and backgrounds. My background includes serving as a substitute teacher, a paraeducator, and a teacher's assistant at Head Start, as well as working in direct support for children and adults with special needs. Additionally, I have facilitated peer reviews and writing workshops at the collegiate level, helping students refine their analytical and expository writing skills.

I earned my BA in Photography from Purdue University and my MA in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. With my academic background and professional experience, I specialize in tutoring English, writing, literature, and related subjects. I particularly enjoy tutoring writing because it allows students to express themselves creatively while developing essential skills in communication and analysis.

My tutoring style is student-centered and adaptable. I believe in meeting students where they are, identifying their individual learning styles, and tailoring my approach to fit their needs. I incorporate active discussions, guided practice, and constructive feedback to help students gain clarity and confidence in their work.

Outside of academia, I have a deep appreciation for literature, particularly horror and mystery/thriller genres. I am also an animal advocate with years of experience in animal care and rescue. Whether I'm helping students craft compelling essays or mentoring them through challenging texts, my goal is always to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.

Hobbies

analyzing storytelling techniques and exploring how different genres reflect cultural and psychological themes. As a writer, I am passionate about crafting gothic and supernatural horror fiction that blends atmosphere, history, and suspense. I am also an avid animal lover and advocate with over 20 years of experience in animal care and rescue. I have worked in humane societies, veterinary settings, and adoption services, and I strongly support animal welfare initiatives. Additionally, I enjoy photography, especially fine art photography of abandoned houses and historic architecture. Capturing the beauty of forgotten places allows me to combine my love of storytelling with visual art. When I’m not writing, reading, or photographing, I love spending time with my rescue pets, exploring new coffee shops, and studying folklore and ghost stories from around the world.
