My name is Elise Smith, I am a mother of two girls, Raven (20) and Mackenzie (15). I have 15 years of teaching experience. During my tenure at the Middle School, I gained many experiences regarding student dynamics. Being able to see both sides of the coin, as a teacher and having the opportunity to work as an intern, was of great benefit for me as I learned how to become flexible and adapt in difficult situations. This experience also helped me to learn how to manage my time, as well as become a better communicator with my colleagues.
I not only served as a Special Education teacher but I also actively participated in organizing several events in the school for the students. These events included both curricular and extracurricular activities. These activities not only gave the students a break from the daily routine but also helped them to grow and have a positive attitude towards their studies and their lives overall. I am currently an Exceptional Children's Director at a Charter School. I not only work in an administrator role but also work with K-6 students in a resource setting. I love having the opportunity to have a voice in the students' lives and curriculum but also the opportunity of still being able to work in the classroom to aid in their success.
