In 2011, I received a Bachelor's degree in English and have extensive knowledge of the mechanics of the English written language. In my personal life, I am a writer and have often beta-read novels, stories, documents, and educational writings for colleagues and friends.

For the past 6 years, I have worked in education and have a Master's degree in Education 7-12 from the state of New York. The first five of those years I worked in the classroom with students ranging from the grades of 7 through 12. I began my teaching career as a Bilingual Teaching Assistant, working with the ELL population at the middle school level. After finalizing my student teaching, I taught 10th grade ELA and then 12th grade ELA, preparing students for college and career after graduation.

Now, and this past year, I am working as a Tutor, an educational consultant, Spanish to English translator, and writing coach. My current tutees range from ages 8 to retired adults who are looking to improve their English proficiency.

When teaching or tutoring one-on-one, it's paramount to make the learning meaningful to the student as an individual. As educators we not only want them to learn the content, but understand the significance of these skills and how it will improve their lives.

Educators should always meet students at their educational and skill-set level, and instill in them intrinsic motivation for wanting to learn, even if their desire to learn is simply to meet an external demand. Teacher and student should work as a team in the academic environment and share the same goals of improving the student's skills and understandings in order to reach their personal goals.

Besides my skills and expertise, I am passionate about teaching and feel that deep learning is best achieved through individual, or small group, instruction.
