Hello!!

My name is Kristi and I am eager to help those who have an interest in learning a foreign language, and or improving their foreign language communicational skills, more specifically Mandarin Chinese. I graduated with B.A in Chinese and Criminal Justice from the University of Rhode Island this past spring. I found that during my college career, understanding various teaching styles really impacted my foreign language learning comprehension abilities, and impacted my overall motivation to continue to succeed in perfecting my language proficiency. That being said, in previous experiences teaching younger students and fellow peers, I make sure to tailor my teaching style to the individual. Whether you are a auditory learner, a visual learner, kinesthetic learner or you learn through other methods, I will make sure to teach you in a way that is best fit for you. After discussing what your main goal is, I will come up with a curriculum that I feel is best fit for you. My main goal is to make sure that you the learner, are confident and comfortable using your foreign language knowledge to the best of your ability. What you learn will not be limited to basic phrases that come straight from a textbook, but rather useful information that would allow you to complete daily tasks in real life with ease. Lastly, when learning a foreign language many tend to be nervous and or be afraid of making mistakes. I would like to say that I embrace making mistakes because that is the only way you will learn. It is just a matter of how you take the new knowledge from that mistake and make it into your strength.
