I love learning. I know it sounds obvious as a teacher, but I promise, I didn't always love to learn. It wasn't until I realized what education really was that I began to fall in love with it. Over my years as a student and my years as a teacher, I have come to know education as power. Education and learning give me the power to grow beyond what is right in front of me. Whether that growth be learning how to stand up for causes that are close to my heart, or how to fix my broken toilet so I don't have to pay a plumber, learning is what allows me to be able to do all of those things. Therefore, I have spent the last 6 years in the classroom teaching teenagers English in a way that helps to apply it to the world around them and show them that learning isn't a chore. I have also taught English as a second language to students who are growing their knowledge through becoming bilingual. Education gets a bad reputation from students, but I have seen that through learning a topic's application to the world, it can become a passion.
