I am a graduate of Calvin University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a focus on art. I then pursued my masters of Education in K - 12 Reading, or now referred to as literacy at SUNY New Paltz.

Since graduation, I have primarily worked in the state of New York as an Academic Intervention Specialist and a classroom teacher. I have taught grades, 2 - 6 in a variety of elementary subjects. I have primarily focused on writing, comprehension, grammar and communication. While I have tutored a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and Ancient History. In my experience helping struggling students feel successful in their learning is important. I am a firm supporter of education, believing it to be necessary for an improved quality of life. Without the ability to read, write or comprehend, life is more difficult.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading of many genres, hiking, biking, and the occasional game of cards.
