I have thoroughly enjoyed my career as a teacher for several reasons. Foremost is that it is simply fun. I love helping students reach (and maybe even exceed) their goals. I have done this in a variety of contexts, including Elementary, Middle, Junior High and High School students in the United States, Kuwait, and Canada. I have also taught youth through adult students online in China and Canada. In fact, I love the focus and accessibility that online teaching facilitates. My experience is that with online teaching, nothing limits us from using the wealth of resources available to make crystal clear any topic. As a teacher, I have successfully taught writing (vocabulary, sentence structure, paragraphing, essays, reports, research papers and punctuation), reading (I have served as a reading specialist) and critical thinking. The focus is always on the student feeling confident that they understand the content and can apply it to the necessary contexts in their own academic and professional lives. My educational background is comprised of an English and Education Major from Minnesota State University, a Master of Curriculum and Instruction from the College of St. Scholastica and a Master of Post-Secondary Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
