I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. I received my B.S. in Learning Disabilities with a concentration in Psychology. I spent the first thirteen years of my educational career as an Exceptional Children's educator (Special Needs) working with all manners of mild- to moderate- disabilities at all grade levels. I made the difficult decision to transition to the General Education side of the house where I currently teach as a Middle Grades English/Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher. Additionally, I hold certifications in Middle Grades Math and Special Education: General Curriculum. My wide varying experiences over the last eighteen years across all grade levels have shown me that while English and History are my strengths, I am still comfortable helping with many levels of Math, as long as there is no Calculus involved! I am passionate about tapping into what makes each student successful for their unique learning routine and organization and growing their love of reading.
