I received my Chemistry and Education degrees from the University of British Columbia.
I have many years of experience teaching Chemistry 11 and 12 in the classroom and over 12 years of experience tutoring students both person-to-person and online. During my time in the classroom, I prepared students for Provincial Exams in Chemistry 12. I held extra evening sessions on my own time to help prepare students for these. I really enjoyed these sessions.
I enjoy tutoring both General Science and Chemistry, but I'm most passionate about tutoring and teaching Chemistry.
I have a real "knack" at presenting material in clear, understandable steps and consistently checking for understanding.
Students have found my approach works extremely well for them and have given me a lot of positive feedback.
I especially enjoy the challenge of working with students who are having difficulties with the course in their classroom. In many cases, a student's attitude toward Chemistry has changed from not liking it to really liking it after working with me.
My philosophy is that virtually all students have the ability to excel in Chemistry if they are taught the material in a way that works for their learning styles and pace of learning.
I believe that confidence in a student's ability to learn Chemistry and other sciences is of utmost importance, so one of my primary goals is to help students build this confidence.
