I am a multimedia artist, illustrator, designer, educator and life coach born in Montral Quebec. All the things that I am are woven together like the warp and weft of cloth. With a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and a Master of Fine Art I have always been a dot connector seeking ways to engage the intuitive and exploratory disposition of the artist with the pragmatic mind set of the scientist.
Beginning my academic studies in the sciences I was curious about things like why seashells had certain shapes and colors or why horses feet evolved into hooves... My budding passion for the interrelations between form, function and the environment did not find much resonance with my peers and I began feeling out of sorts, a bit of an oddball but it was the catalyst to my meandering path between studio arts, art history communications, theater and expressive arts. Interdisciplinary studies did not exist during my college years; mentoring|tutoring is a great way to create the necessary space for unique and personal forays.
Being an artist is being an explorer from the instinctual gesture of the abstract expressionist to the controlled precision of the draftsman. Someone whose curiosity sparks new connections, a vehicle for the expression of what often challenges. Art is as much a process as it is an offering to others, whose expression needs a repertoire of skillful means to communicate as well as the inner cultivation of insight, confidence and resilience.
Recently I have discovered a new passion: botanical illustration. Smitten by the beauty of the world contained in one flower and the power this connection has to change the way I see, sense and perceive, art making is also a way of knowing. Design and creativity are everywhere.
As a professional artist I create illustrations, graphics and textile designs always drawing from my extensive background in studio arts with one hand in the digital world and the other smeared with graphite paint and other tangibles. Art is also messy. Being a tutor of creativity is like being a gardener, one who nurtures the seed of a unique creative potential well worth coming home to. A place of skill, mastery and playful glee. See you there!
