I graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in English as well as a Teacher's Certificate for Special Education. I also earned my Masters in Curriculum and Assessment from Marygrove College.
I taught 2nd-4th grade students with Learning Disabilities and Autism for three years. I primarily worked as a Phonics, Guided Reading, and Writing teacher, but I also taught Social Studies and Science.
After working in elementary schools, I shifted to kindergarten/preschool. I taught Casa students in a Montessori program for one year, and I served as a Teacher Assistant in Junior Kindergarten for two years. These early childhood experiences cemented my knowledge of crucial pre-literacy skills.
I am passionate about nurturing relationships with students and their families, and I love seeing students grow in their journey as readers and writers. I utilize a multisensory approach (even as an online tutor) to help students grasp new concepts and acquire a variety of strategies. I focus on students' progress and celebrate each milestone.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband as well as my six year old and my two year old. We enjoy making memories with friends and families and spending time outdoors.
