I am a graduate of Iowa State University. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child, Adult, and Family Services. I have always enjoyed working in diverse settings with children, youth, and families to reach common goals, to ensure that all are able to live to their full potential while growing and becoming self-sufficient. I have seen firsthand how kind words of encouragement and the knowledge of consistency can create huge changes in a student's demeanor and confidence. I currently teach a leadership program at a local public school in my community. In this role, I focus on teaching students the basic skills for understanding what is important to be successful in school and after graduation, providing academic support to improve grades, providing time, patience, understanding, and a positive relationship, teaching leadership skills, teamwork/team building skills, social skills, life skills, career/employability skills, and so much more! During my time as an undergraduate, I have experience volunteering as a tutor for school age children in the elementary curriculum during the summer months in addition to being a Religious education teacher and helping plan weekly lessons for students of mixed ability levels. While I tutor a broad range of subjects I am most passionate about study skills and organization, productivity, elementary and middle school math, and elementary school reading and writing. Throughout my professional experience, I have learned how to best teach each age group (elementary, middle school, and high school) and I strongly believe in incorporating integrity and real world examples. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, reading, and participating in/watching various sporting events.
