Specialties: Middle school math, word problems, PSAT and SAT
I have been a middle school math teacher for more than 20 years, and it is my absolute favorite subject. As a tutor, I have successfully prepared hundreds of students for their SAT, PSAT and ACT exams, as well as the ISEE and SSAT. I take great pride in the accomplishments of my students and organize lessons to maximize student learning.
My experience has given me a keen understanding of the challenges facing students, and I've found that within just a few lessons a student can gain strategies and systems to achieve success in each new math topic. What's more, I've come to observe that helping a student strengthen their math skills often helps to build their confidence in other areas of their life.
I truly believe that all students are capable of succeeding in math. It is my job to help to lower the anxiety that can be associated with an uncertain subject, and encourage practice, practice, practice.
I am a graduate of The Krannert School of Business at Purdue University in Indiana where I received a BA in accounting. I was awarded my master's degree in special education from the College of Saint Elizabeth, where I became certified to teach kindergarten through 12th grade mathematics. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, grading papers and spending time with my family. I'm also a fan of all NY sports teams go Yankees!
