I have a doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh and a doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Michigan. In 2016-2019 I worked as an Adjunct Instructor teaching Algebra, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I-II at the University of Pittsburgh, Penn State New Kensington, Westmoreland County Community College, and La Roche College. When in graduate school in Mathematics, I taught Pre-Calculus, Business Calculus, and Calculus I-III as a Teaching Assistant. I also worked as a Tutor for Calculus II, which I enjoyed greatly because I could be much more effective working one-to-one. When explaining a subject, I put a lot of emphasis on understanding the ideas behind, rather than mechanical memorization. Understanding ideas is much more powerful because one can do hundred different things with one idea behind. However, it is impossible to memorize hundred different procedures, one for every little variation on a common principle.
