Education is vital to any and all societies. Without education a nation cannot flourish and develop. It shapes the future of our youth and those are the people who will grow up to become future leaders and educators. Teachers play a crucial role in education, and often they are overlooked professionally. Teaching and learning go hand in hand; as well as learning and knowledge. Without one or the other, education is unable to have a profound effect on students.
The learning process is able to bring together cognitive, emotional and environmental influences and experiences with the outcome of broadening a person's knowledge and skills. The role of a teacher is to provide students with the knowledge and emotional influences to successfully grow and develop. Teachers often demonstrate this through influencing appropriate personal beliefs and ethical situations into instruction. It is important for teachers to remain ethical while teaching because crossing a line could not only destroy a career but it could have life-long lasting effects on students.
Through effective teaching, students are able to reach their full learning potential, which why I love education and being a teacher. Students have different learning styles, and no two students learn the same. I plan to approach the learning process with my students in an inspiring and analytical method. At the same time, I want to inspire my students to think outside the box and I want to inspire them to love learning. I believe that students can love to learn if they are placed with motivational, effective and loving teachers. Many educators believe that teaching is a calling as opposed to a career, they believe in the craft of teaching also known as pedagogy.
Teachers must have knowledge of content areas; such as science, math, social studies and English/Language Arts. These are the core subjects that students spend their formal education years learning. It is important for teachers to have knowledge about the content areas, without knowing the content areas it is impossible for a teacher to become an effective teacher. In order for a student to learn from a teacher, the teacher must have knowledge about what they are discussing and teaching.
My philosophy of education is that knowledge, learning and teaching are all important components in understanding education. Learning is probably the most important for me; because as an educator, not only are we teaching students how to learn and helping them learn, but we are also learning ourselves. The students and situations teach us things every day; whether they teach us how to do things or how not to do things. Knowledge and teaching are also important to education. With no education there is no knowledge and with no teaching there is no education. Overall education is very important to me and I believe that teachers have the ability to provide students with the tools to reach their highest learning potentials.
