I first became familiar with the other side of the teacher/student relationship while tutoring a Japanese student taking an English as a Second Language class. While working with her I discovered the trust the student has with the teacher, and how carefully this trust must be preserved. I also learned to keep myself out of the student's work, in other words the student's work was entirely work of the student.
