I have a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin. I wrote for The Daily Texan as a movie, art, and theater critic, and I've recently been published on Glamour.com. I also have taken TV writing classes. I've worked with children as young as 3 as a camp counselor, and I spent some of the last 5 years as a nanny to children of all ages. I've always enjoyed helping kids understand what they're studying and speaking to them so that I'm on their level. I will gauge if your child is a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner, and how I can help them do the best they can in a subject. Growing up, I would help my older sister in English lit- we later learned that she had some learning disabilities, and this has definitely helped me understand that everyone learns differently. I think I relate to kids well because I can still remember being in school from an early age and doing homework myself! I tutor students in English, writing, literature, Spanish 1 and 2, politics, and history. I would say of all these, I love discussing literature the most (I recently started a book club focusing on classic novels). Outside of tutoring, I'm a huge pop culture nerd (I love to discuss movies and TV shows), doing crosswords, performing improv, and picking up new skills (recently that includes getting back into poker, learning Italian for a trip to Italy, and knitting for the first time!).
