I'm an upcoming sophomore at Columbia University, planning to major in computer science. I am a part of the Columbia University Lion Dance and I am currently creating a website and looking into Android Development while learning HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
Not only do I love learning, I also love teaching. I tutor elementary school students at IC Learning Center, assisting them with their homework and questions. Although they were only elementary students, I treated all of them as adults. I felt as if they were all my children. I also tutored five students for the ACT. I always want others to do well academically; hence, I created a set academic structure depending on a number of months they have left before their exam and through my personal experience. I always go over the questions they were stuck on and provide more help if needed. I video-called and visited them to see their progress and to make sure everyone was on track. All five students received a 29+ and gained at least a 2 point increase in their scores. With all this experience, I gained a sense of developed human communication and ideas.
I'm able to tutor Elementary Algebra, Algebra 1-2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1-3 (AP Calculus AB & BC), SAT Math, SAT Reading, SAT Writing, ACT Math, ACT Reading, ACT English, and ACT Science. I truly believe with hard work and passion, any student can be successful in any academic field.
I am passionate about improving and helping students grow personally and academically. As I teach students, I also learn more about myself. No matter how small or big the improvement, I am always satisfied and excited to help. I believe teaching is a gateway to learning. Therefore, I always try to use creative analogies, jokes, and examples to grasp the student's attention. I am confident that my experience, work ethic, and passion are the qualities that you are looking for as a mentor. I am eager to work with you and teach you as much I know.
