As the daughter of a children’s book illustrator, I was blessed to have access to a variety of books, literature, and art throughout my formative years. My parents taught me to appreciate and value education and work toward making the world a better place. As a result, I want to see a world that displays equality and justice, especially in regards to education. My undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania allowed me to study and receive degrees in order to make this a reality.

I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies and Master of Science degree in Education. I am currently a fifth-grade teacher. Having taught students with many different learning needs during my career, I am able to tailor my teaching and tutoring style to meet the specific needs of my students. I have taught and tutored a variety of learners, including students with special needs like Autism, Emotional Disabilities, and Specific Learning Disabilities; ESL students; and adults in GED or adult high school programs. Though I have taught all subjects, including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, I am most passionate about tutoring in elementary math, Algebra 1, and elementary/middle school reading comprehension and writing.

As a teacher and tutor, I seek to introduce my students to the wonders of learning by using interactive and engaging lessons. My goal is to empower students to think critically about our world and have the insights and academic abilities to be catalysts for change. I believe all students have this capacity, and I work diligently to ensure that students reach their personal potential and educational goals.

In my spare time, I love to read, listen to music, and visit the many Smithsonian (and other) museums in the DC area.
